Cricket South Africa (CSA) Announces List Of Contracted Players For Men's And Women's Teams For 2021-22

Cricket South Africa (CSA) recently announced the South African Men’s and Women’s players were awarded the central contracts for the 2021-22 season. The upgrade system will again be in place this year.

Those players selected for the Proteas during the 2021/22 season who are not contracted can qualify for a performance-based National Contract upgrade.

For the men’s South African team, the calendar year includes two T20 World Cups- 2021 in India and 2022 in Australia. The South Africa team will also travel for a full tour for the very first time to Ireland in July 2021.

On the other hand, for the women’s South Africa team, the biggest engagement will be the ICC 2022 World Cup, to be played in New Zealand in March-April 2022.

Women’s Contracts Have Increased From 14 To 15 Players; For Men’s 17th Contracted Spot Kept Open: CSA

Cricket South Africa also announced that the number of contracted players for the Women’s team is increased from the previous 14 to 15 players. However, it has been decided to remain with the 16 men’s contracts, keeping the 17th open, giving players the opportunity to qualify for it through performance.

The newest addition to the women’s central contract list as the 15th player is Lara Goodall, who is currently on the tour of India with the South African women’s team. While Heinrich Klaasen was awarded a central contract in the men’s team.

“It is a matter of great pride that CSA has increased the number of women’s contracts from 14 to 15 for the very first time. We are confident that the number of selected players for both the men’s and women’s teams is sufficient to maintain them across the formats in which they participate.

We are about to enter into a very important cricket season with ICC World Cup events for both the men’s and the women’s teams and we are confident that we have the correct personnel and necessary depth within the system to produce teams that will challenge the best in the world in the coming 12 months,” said CSA Acting Chief Executive, Mr. Pholetsi Moseki.

Dané van Niekerk (captain), Trisha Chetty, Nadine de Klerk, Mignon du Preez, Lara Goodall, Shabnim Ismail, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Lizelle Lee, Suné Luus, Tumi Sekhukhune, Chloe Tryon, Laura Wolvaardt.

CSA Contracted Proteas Men’s Players:

Temba Bavuma (white ball captain), Quinton de Kock, Dean Elgar (red ball captain), Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje , Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi , Rassie van der Dussen.
