Previously published media reports claimed that to get Hardik Pandya on board, Super Kings could offer Shivam Dube and either Ayush Mhatre or Dewald Brevis in return, with some additional cash. This means a player-plus-cash deal is possible between these two franchises only for Hardik Pandya.
If the media reports are to be believed and Hardik joins Chennai for the IPL 2027 season, how could the deal between the two franchises shape? Will Super Kings allow a young prodigy like Ayush Mhatre to leave the team? Maybe not. At least the RevSportz journalist Rohit Juglan thinks so.
Ayush Mhatre is likely to stay with the Chennai Super Kings
In a recent YouTube video, Rohit claimed that CSK will consider only Shivam Dube for a player-plus-cash deal. He turned down reports that mentioned that the franchise could offer Ayush Mhatre or Dewald Brevis to the Mumbai Indians for Hardik Pandya.
With sheer confidence, the journalist stated that Mhatre, who is currently at the Center of Excellence in Bengaluru for rehabilitation, will join the team for the upcoming season.
“Right now, if Chennai were to agree with anyone, it would be for Shivam Dube. Other than that, no for Dewald Brevis, and also no, no for Ayush Matre. Ayush Matre doesn’t want to go anywhere, and he isn’t going anywhere. I mean, he is currently at the Center of Excellence. He is going through rehab. His rehab has already been going on for quite a long time. It’s still ongoing,” Rohit said in his YouTube video.
But in an interesting development, Rohit highlighted that when CSK initiated the conversation with Mumbai Indians for Hardik Pandya, Stephen Fleming was CSK’s coach. Fleming was believed to be one of those who had played a major role in the potential deal.
Will the Hardik Pandya potential deal see the daylight without Stephen Fleming?
Stephen Fleming is no longer a part of the franchise, as he stepped down from all the roles with Super Kings. In the absence of Stephen Fleming, will CSK be able to craft the deal in their desired manner? It will be interesting to see.
