Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, have struggled to live up to their reputation as five-time IPL champions this season. Chennai Super Kings hinted at the inclusion of Devon Conway to bolster their lineup after their losses to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Chennai Super Kings are under pressure early in the season amid speculation that they could finish at the bottom this year. The team is currently placed eighth on the 10-team points table in IPL 2025. They have secured just one victory from their first three matches and have a Net Run Rate (NRR) of -0.771.

Chennai Super Kings May Consider Making Changes to Their Playing XI

CSK may consider making changes to their playing XI after a slow start to the IPL 2025 season. A few players have looked out of form. They will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 5. The management may test bench strength for the match.

They would like to bring back opener Devon Conway, who was reacquired in the IPL 2025 mega-auction for ₹6.25 crore. Conway has a good record with CSK in the IPL. The left-handed batter has scored 924 runs in 22 innings at an impressive average of nearly 49 and a decent strike rate of 141.28.

Conway could be paired with fellow New Zealand Rachin Ravindra. The duo could provide stability and aggression at the top of the order. Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad will bat at No. 3, as he did in the previous matches.

Devon Conway to Return to Playing XI? Chennai Super Kings Break Silence

Ahead of the match against the Delhi Capitals, the Chennai-based franchise posted a video of Devon Conway playing an eight-ball pool game. The Super Kings might be hinting that Conway could return to the playing XI amid struggles.

"8️⃣8️⃣🎯🎱😉#WhistlePodu #Yellove 🦁💛," wrote the caption.

The Super Kings had found consistent success with the right-left opening pair of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway in recent seasons. However, the team opted to change that combination this year, and it hasn’t delivered the desired results so far.

CSK Set to Take On Delhi Capitals in Their Fourth Match of IPL 2025

Chennai Super Kings began their season with a four-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians. However, they’ve struggled to maintain that form. They faced a 50-run loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, followed by a six-run defeat to Rajasthan Royals, which pushed them down to seventh in the standings.

CSK are set to face an in-form Delhi Capitals side on Saturday, April 5, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Axar Patel-led team remains unbeaten in two games. Ruturaj Gaikwad and his squad will be aiming to turn things around in front of their home fans in the upcoming match at Chepauk.
