Former South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has named his top five fast bowlers in ODIs from international cricket teams at the moment. Dale Steyn overlooked Australia's pace trio - Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood - while picking his top five quicks in One Day Internationals right now.
Dale Steyn retired from all formats in 2021, but he still holds the record for the most Test wickets for South Africa. The 41-year-old played 93 Tests and took 439 wickets, including 26 five-wicket hauls.
The former pacer took 196 wickets in 125 ODI matches, while he picked up 64 wickets from 47 T20I appearances.
I Can't Quite Split Matt Henry and Marco Jansen - Dale Steyn
In a video posted by ESPN Cricinfo on X (formerly Twitter), Dale Steyn was asked to name his top five ODI bowlers at the moment. Steyn picked Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kagiso Rabada, and Shaheen Shah Afridi as his top four, while he didn’t choose between Matt Henry and Marco Jansen for the final spot.
"Shami, Bumrah, Rabada, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and then I can't quite split Matt Henry and Marco Jansen. Those two guys, I feel like they just fly under the radar because they just do what is required to be done. And they can pick up wickets at any time," Steyn said.
The Two at the Top, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah - Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn praised Kagiso Rabada for his versatility, adding that he can bowl effectively in all phases of the game. He also spoke highly of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah. Steyn concluded by stating that while there are many impressive pacers, these bowlers impressed him the most at the moment.
"And then you've got Rabada. The man doesn't mind if he bowls with a new ball or if he bowls first change or if he bowls in the death. He has got control of the game and He knows where the ball's going to go, and he knows who he's playing against," Steyn said.
"And then obviously the two at the top, Shami and Bumrah. I mean, Shami's had a phenomenal last few years, and Bumrah is who he is. They're just, these guys are incredible. And the list can go on, but these are just five that right now are pretty impressive to me," he concluded.
