Ashutosh Sharma played a whirlwind knock to take Delhi Capitals to an improbable win over Lucknow Super Giants at Visakhapatnam. It was a knock to remember for the youngster who carried on his good form from last season.

After the match, DC head coach Hemang Badani heaped praises on Ashutosh Sharma for his game-changing knock. Badani mentioned about Ashutosh's strong mentality and willingness to be on the field despite a cut finger.

Hemang Badani makes shocking revelation on Ashutosh Sharma

Delhi Capitals head coach Hemang Badani gave a winning speech in the dressing room after the team registered its win of the season. Badani revealed that Ashutosh Sharma played the game despite a cut finger.

Badani spoke about Ashutosh's determination to play the game and his willingness to win the game for his team. He also praised the way Ashutosh paced his innings and finished off the game perfectly in the end.

"I have to mention about this lad. He's had a cut finger. There was a chance he could have missed out on the game. I had a chat with him, asking him two days prior to the game when he had that cut. 'How are you feeling? Will you play?'" Badani asked Ashutosh.

"He said quite clearly, 'I am playing the game. I want to be in the middle.' There's one thing that you speak of being in the middle, wanting to and the desire to play but to go in there, to bat the way you batted. 15 off 15 at one stage, but then he goes on to get 66 off 31. Finishing off the game in style," he added.

Ashutosh plays a memorable knock

Ashutosh Sharma came in to bat at No. 7 as the Impact Player. Delhi Capitals were 65-5 at one stage and had just lost the experienced Faf du Plessis. Ashutosh started his innings in a sedate fashion but didn't take much time to get his eyes in and make an impact.

He stitched a fine partnership of 48 runs with Tristan Stubbs. After Stubbs was dismissed, DC's hopes seemed to be going down but Ashutosh and Vipraj Nigam had other ideas. Vipraj took off the pressure from Ashutosh with a fiery cameo of his own.

He struck 39 off just 15 deliveries with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Although he was dismissed, Ashutosh struck a few lusty blows in the end to take Delhi Capitals to a brilliant win. Fittingly, Ashutosh finished off the game with a six off Shahbaz Ahmed.

Ashutosh Sharma continues his brilliance

Ashutosh had shown his potential last season while playing for Punjab Kings. The Madhya Pradesh batter was brilliant with his knocks in IPL 2024 but was unable to take his team past the finish line.

However, the 26-year-old was determined to turn things around this time and ensured to take his team to a win while remaining unbeaten till the end. Ashutosh Sharma was signed for INR 3.80 in the auction and he has repaid the faith shown by his franchise.
