DC vs GT Match Preview- IPL 2024, Match 40

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals played their first match at home and started with a loss to Sunrises Hyderabad, They pummelled the DC bowler all around the park and piled up 266 with the bat. DC in return scored 199 in the run-chase before getting bowled out.

Maintaining consistency in their games has been one of the big [problems for the Delhi Capitals this season. They have won back-to-back games just once in the tournament. Heading into this game, they are placed eighth on the table with six points from 8 games.

Twice in the season so far they have conceded 240 runs with the all. Once against MI, they conceded 234 runs. Against GT in their previous match, they bowled the opposition out for just 890. Thus maintaining consistency has been a struggle so far in the season.

Gujarat Titans

The Titans too have struggled to win games consistently. Heading into this game, they are placed sixth but with Mumbai Indians below them on sixth, they might not hold onto the spot for long. They became the first team to beat Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh stadium.

Next up was their match against DC where they were outplayed by the Capitals completely. In their previous match in Mullanpur against Punjab Kings, they managed to chase down 143 in the final over of the match.

The chase was a real struggle for the Titans once Shubman Gil was dismissed. The batting is dependent on GIll to give them a good start. The bowling is too dependent not on The Afghan spinners and Mohit Sharam to fire consistently.

GT Squad

Shubman Gill (c), David Miller, Matthew Wade, Wriddhiman Saha, Kane Williamson, Abhinav Manohar, B. Sai Sudharsan, Darshan Nalkande, Vijay Shankar, Jayant Yadav, Rahul Tewatia, Noor Ahmad, Sai Kishore, Rashid Khan, Joshua Little, Mohit Sharma, Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, Shahrukh Khan, Sushant Mishra, Kartik Tyagi, Manav Suthar, Spencer Johnson, Sandeep Warrier, BR Sharath

DC vs GT Key Battles

Shubman Gill vs Anrich Nortje

Gill has his problems against raw pace. In the previous match against DC, it was Ishant Sharma who dismissed him in the game. Playing in Delh in generally what is expected to be a good batting surface, Gill will come up against Nortje which will be a test for him.

David Miller vs Kuldeep Yadav

Miller is the enforcer in the middle-order for GT, In Kuldeep Yadav, DC has a specialist who takes wickets in the middle-overs and Miler has to pass the challenge.

Jake Fraser-McGurk vs Rashid Khan

The young Australian has been giving his team consistent starts. With Mitchell Marsh ruled out for the remainder of the season, he is now a regular feature in the DC XI. He will need to maximize and attack Rashid Khan to put GT on the backfoot.

DC vs GT Key Players

For DC skipper Rishabh Pant, Fraser McGurk, Abishek Potel, and David Warner will be key with the bat. With the ball, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed, Axar Patel, and Anrich Nortje will be key.

For GT, in the absence of their key players, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will be key with the bat. With the ball, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, and Mohit Sharma are key.

DC vs GT Weather Report and Pitch Report

The weather conditions in Delhi for the DC vs GT game will be hot and humid. The weather conditions will be under 30 degrees in the evening but there will be dew in the second half.

Speaking about the pitch, SRH posted 266 batting first in the last game at the venue. That is a hint enough that this will be a high-scoring contest. The venue is among the smallest grounds in the country with the dimensions not too big enough.

It is high time that both teams string a few wins on the trot to move up the table and give themselves a chance of finishing in the top four. DC after the previous win over GT should be confident of beating them in the reverse fixture.
