DC vs SRH: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma's destruction propels Sunrisers Hyderabad to highest powerplay total in T20 history

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have shattered a massive record in the history of the T20s. The Pat Cummins-led side slammed the highest-ever score in the powerplay in the history of the shortest format of the game, registering 125 runs in just 6 overs. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved the feat in the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 35th game of the tournament between the teams is taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Saturday (20th April). 

Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were asked to bat first, came out all guns blazing and produced a sensational effort with the bat. Opener Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma went berserk and showed no mercy on the Delhi Capitals bowlers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. 

Travis Head started the innings on high as he slammed six on the second ball of the innings and then after that didn't look back. He was at his brutal best and made sure that he made Delhi Capitals bowlers look clueless at their home ground. He slammed every bowler out of the park. 

While he was at his best, Abhishek Sharma at the other end joined him and made sure that he kept things heated up at the other end as well. The duo brought up a century stand in just 5 overs. Sunrisers Hyderabad's 100 off 5 overs is the fastest team hundred in any T20 league in the world. 

Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma made sure that they made full use of the powerplay overs. Their brutal batting in the power play made sure that Sunrisers Hyderabad ended with 125 runs in the power play, which is the highest in the history of IPL as well as the T20s. 

While Abhishek Sharma perished after scoring 46 runs off 12 balls, Travis Head slammed 89 runs in just 32 balls. They exhibited a brutal batting display and took their team off the flyer at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, adding 131 runs for the opening stand. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad shatter multiple records in the IPL

Sunrisers Hyderabad overtook Kolkata Knight Riders' score of 105 runs in the powerplay to register the highest score in the powerplay. Chennai Super Kings feature twice in the list.
