Just before the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final against Australia, star all-rounder Deandra Dottin was seen being carried off the field, leaving her West Indies teammates worried, as she is one of the team's most experienced and important players.
The shocking moment happened only minutes before the start of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final between West Indies and Australia. Television cameras showed Dottin unable to walk on her own as several West Indies players helped carry her away from the ground.
Deandra Dottin appeared to be in visible pain and discomfort. It is being said that the star all-rounder even came out for the national anthem but suddenly collapsed during the singing of the national anthem. While the match has already gotten underway at The Oval, there is still no official update yet on Dottin.

In a big relief, Deandra Dottin has returned to the West Indies during the 15th over of the team’s batting. She even appeared to be getting ready to bat, as her team’s struggle continuous against the dominant Australian side in the semifinal clash.
"She had a medical issue but she is fine now and played a great innings at the end there and gave us a bit of a total," West Indies head coach Shane Deitz told the broadcaster after the innings. "She is a tough character, hard to keep her down. Hopefully she will come out and chip in a wicket or two."
Meanwhile, Australia decided to bowl first after winning the toss and the decision has worked perfectly. At the end of 14 overs, West Indies were struggling at 73/4, with the Australian bowlers keeping things tight with the ball in the semifinal.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews gave her team a flying start. She showed attacking intent from the start and even added 47 runs for the first wicket with the opening partner Qiana Joseph during the powerplay. However, Australia's bowlers turned the match around in just a few overs.

Leg-spinner Georgia Wareham gave her team the first breakthrough by dismissing Qiana Joseph for 16, which led to the shocking collapse. Soon after, the left-arm spinner Sophie Molineux removed Matthews for 30 off 28 balls. Later, Ashleigh Gardner produced a brilliant spell with the ball.
She removed experienced batter Stafanie Taylor cheaply and then sent Jahzara Claxton back for another duck, leaving West Indies in serious trouble. Gardner has been Australia's standout bowler so far, taking 2 wickets for just 6 runs and making life hell for the West Indies batters.
Well, Shemaine Campbelle and Chinelle Henry are now trying to rescue the West Indies innings. They took the team beyond the 70-run mark. Well, Dottin was on fire as she already struck four boundaries and played a quick cameo of unbeaten 26 runs off 16 balls to take West Indies to a respectable total of 127 runs against Australia in the semifinal.
