Delhi Capitals Appoint Former Indian Wicketkeeper Saba Karim As Head Of Talent Search

IPL franchise Delhi Capitals has appointed former Indian cricketer Syed Saba Karim as the franchise’s head of Talent Search. The franchise announced the news with a post on Twitter on Sunday. Saba Karim is a former wicket-keeper batsman who played for the Indian national team in the past. Karim has also worked as a national selector before. He also held the post of General Manager – Cricket Operations with the BCCI.
Karim’s international career spanned from 1997 to 2000. Karim played 1 Test match and 34 ODIs during his international career. He also played 120 First-Class matches. In 34 ODIs, Karim scored 362 runs along with 1 half-century. In his lone Test match against Bangladesh in November 2000, he scored 15 runs. In his first-class career, Karin smashed 7310 runs. At the domestic level, Karim has represented Bihar.

Talking about his new role with Delhi Capitals, Karim said that he is very excited and looking forward to helping the franchise grow further.
“I am very excited to begin my role as Talent Scout for the Delhi Capitals. The IPL has, over the years, unearthed so much talent, and continues to produce world class action. Delhi Capitals is an exciting team to work with, and I am looking forward to help them grow further,” Karim said.

Karim also praised players for participating in IPL 2021 matches during the Covid-19 crisis in the country. He said that players have shown incredible courage.
“Firstly, I would like to commend the incredible courage shown by the players during this year’s IPL. It’s not easy for anyone to stay away from their loved ones at this very difficult time. Yet they have stuck around, and continued playing the tournament, for which they deserve plenty of credit,” Saba Karim further said.
Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have shown a great performance in IPL 2021 so far. The Rishabh Pant-led side has won 5 matches out of 7 and holds the 2nd spot in the points table. Delhi Capitals have 10 points in their kitty. Delhi Capitals will face Punjab Kings in their next encounter of IPL 2021. The match will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 2.
