England opener Ben Duckett has opened up about facing ace pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming five-match Test series against India at home. The left-handed batter said that he knew the Indian pacer's skill set, adding that he already played against Bumrah in a Test series away from home.
India are set to tour England for the Test series in 2025. They last secured a Test series victory in England in 2007. India have struggled in away Tests against England, suffering heavy defeats s— 0-4 in 2011, 1-3 in 2014, and 1-4 in 2018 — before managing a 2-2 draw in the series played across 2021 and 2022.
Mohammed Shami Is as Threatening as Jasprit Bumrah - Ben Duckett
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Ben Duckett said that facing Mohammed Shami will be just as challenging as Jasprit Bumrah. Duckett stated that he is familiar with Bumrah’s bowling and does not expect any surprises. He also stated that England should and can defeat India at home.
"I’ve faced him in a five-Test series before. I know what he’s going to do to me, and the good thing about that is I know what skills he has. There’s going to be nothing that surprises me," said Duckett.
"It’s going to be challenging, and the red-ball skills of Mohammed Shami are just as threatening as Bumrah. But if I can get through that opening spell, I feel there are runs to be had. India at home is very different from India away. It’s a side I feel we should beat and we can beat. It’ll be a good series," he added.
