Ruturaj Gaikwad has revealed that Ayush Mhatre, Dewald Brevis, and Urvil Patel, the three youngsters who reshaped CSK's batting later in the group-stage games of IPL 2025, would continue to feature in IPL 2026 alongside his return from injury, which will strengthen their chances.

The Chennai Super Kings are undoubtedly one of the finest sides in the history of the Indian Premier League. They have won the title a record five times, and with the speculations hitting over it might be MS Dhoni's farewell season, the Super Kings look to bounce back and honour the legend with a title on his IPL exit.

For CSK, the previous two seasons were not their best seasons, and they have lacked in several aspects of the game, though the 2025 season marked the induction of several exceptional young players into the Yellow Army.

Ruturaj Gaikwad reveals Dewald Brevis and Ayush Mhatre updates for IPL 2026

Previously, CSK veteran MS Dhoni had claimed that the good-looking CSK batting order, which looks convincing after the addition of players like Ayush Mhatre and Protea finisher Dewald Brevis.

The former Mumbai Indians and Mumbai batters, Brevis and Mhatre, fired in with their commanding performance for the Chennai Super Kings after being brought in as late replacements in IPL 2025. Dhoni added that skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad would add to the strength of this batting order.

"From him, the support was always there - There was nothing to be shy about & obviously, you know, me missing that tournament and then later on having some replacements (Ayush, Urvil, Brevis) - It really strengthened the squad & then obviously, me joining back again would really strengthen it again. So, I feel that is what he said," Gaikwad said in support of the former captain to PTI.

Brevis and Mhatre's IPL 2025 campaign for CSK

Dewald Brevis, the Protea batter, came in as a replacement in the IPL, where he played 6 matches for CSK and went on to score 225 runs at an average of 37.50. Not only did the batter score runs, but he also remained consistent and a major trustworthy source of runs for CSK down the order.

As times Brevis startled all with his long levers, and sometimes he showed sensibility when his team needed stability in the innings; overall, he intimidated the opposition and entertained the CSK crowd. His strike rate remained over 180 for the season as he also scored 2 half-centuries.

On the other hand, the Mumbai batter, 17-year-old Ayush Mhatre, also set the stage on fire on his IPL debut. He scored 240 runs off 7 games in the season and played some great innings to hand the Super Kings vital starts.

He scored his maiden fifty in the edition and was just one shot away from his maiden hundred as well. He too struck stunningly, with a season strike rate of 188.

Dewald Brevis' commendable rise in International cricket

Dewald Brevis' international debuts were marked for South Africa in ODI and Test cricket after his commendable performance in franchise cricket tournaments. Brevis played in the T20Is and got massive success.

He scored his maiden century in international cricket in T20Is against Australia, and he has been unstoppable with his fierce striking. This was followed by some good ODI performances as well, where he plays the role of lower-order finisher.

He scored his maiden Test fifty in the series against Zimbabwe.
