Former Indian selector Dilip Vengsarkar shared his predictions for the upcoming five-match Test series between India and England. He believes that the Rohit Sharma-led side being at their home should win the series comfortably.

The Test series between the Indian Team and England will begin on 25th January in Hyderabad. It will be a five-match series that will be played for two long months in India across different venues. The series will also be crucial for both teams in the context of the ICC World Test Championship points.

It’s fair to say that there’s no better team at home than India as they have destroyed the opponents and have won games pretty one-sided. The last time England toured India, they were at the receiving end of the humiliation and looked clueless.

But since then a lot has changed in England cricket and they have become a dominant force in the longest format of the game. Under the leadership of Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum, they have become a force to reckon with and no doubt will be a huge threat for India.

England have been undefeated in the Tests since the duo have taken on. They whitewashed Pakistan in Pakistan, drew series against Australia at home, defeated New Zealand, and South Africa at home, and drew series against Kiwis in their own backyard.

Playing against Rohit Sharma-led side in India will be the biggest challenge so far they have faced. But with their Bazball approach, one cannot doubt them. India on the other would be confident because the brand of cricket they have played at home is unmatchable.

The Rohit Sharma-led side are yet to lose a series at home in the last one decade. But their last series loss at home came against England. Under the leadership of Alastair Cook, they scripted history and won the series by the margin of 2-1.

Dilip Vengsarkar predicts results for the series between India and England

With just a day ahead of the Test series between India and England, Dilip Vengsarkar was asked to make his prediction for his series. He believes that the hosts are superior and will win the series at home. Speaking to RevSportz, he explained:

“India is a far superior side. With them playing at home, definitely, they will win the series.”

England have announced their playing 11 for the first Test already. They have selected just one fast bowler in Mark Wood and have three specialist spinners. Ben Foakes will be the keeper.

Here’s the England’s playing 11 for the first IND vs ENG Test:

Zack Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (c), Ben Foakes (wk), Rehan Ahmed, Jack Leach, Tom Hartley, Mark Wood

The Rohit Sharma-led side on the other hand will be announcing their team at the toss. They will be without the services of Virat Kohli, who has pulled out of the first two games due to personal reasons. It is likely that KL Rahul will take his place in the team for the first two games.
