Sri Lanka has announced a 30-man squad for an upcoming T20I and ODI series against South Africa. Sri Lanka has recalled their senior player Dinesh Chandimal to the side. Both the series will be played from September 2 to 14 next month. The squad will be led by Dasun Shanaka.

Sri Lanka vs South Africa ODI will witness three ODIs on September 2, 4, and 7. The three T20I games will be played on September 10, 12, and 14. All the matches of the ODI and T20I series will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The Sri Lanka squad for the series comprises some experienced as well as uncapped players.

Dinesh Chandimal Recalled In The Squad For Series Against South Africa

Notably, veteran cricketer Dinesh Chandimal has been recalled to the Sri Lanka side for the series against the Proteas. The wicketkeeper-batsman last played for Sri Lanka during the ODI and T20I series against West Indies in March this year.

However, he was absent from the squad during Sri Lanka’s visit to England in June and India’s tour of Sri Lanka in July. 31-year-old Dinesh Chandimal has played 149 ODIs and 57 T20Is for Sri Lanka so far. The right-handed batsman has also plundered 3698 runs in ODIs and 868 runs in T20Is.

Some other senior players like Angelo Mathews, Dimuth Karunaratne, and Suranga Lakmal have not been picked for the South Africa series. Dilshan Madushanka, Sahan Arachchige, Pulina Tharanga, and Mahesh Theekshana are some of the uncapped players that are part of Sri Lanka squad against South Africa. Hence, they are likely to get an opportunity to make their debut for the national side.
