Ahead of the first T20I between India and Ireland, Dinesh Karthik said that he is highly impressed with the fearless way Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has played over the last few months. At an age when most youngsters are still learning the game, the Bihar batter has already shown that he is not afraid of taking on the world's best bowlers.
During IPL 2026, the left-handed batter attacked experienced world-class bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood, Jofra Archer, and Pat Cummins with complete confidence and even dominated them. His Orange Cap campaign earned him a maiden India call-up.
After scoring 776 runs to finish as the highest run-scorer in the IPL 2026, Vaibhav recently smashed the fastest List-A fifty in just 11 balls. And Karthik feels very few young players have created this kind of buzz before even playing their first international match, and this is rare.

Dinesh Karthik said on Instagram: “You know what makes sports so beautiful? Stories. And there's a wonderful story developing in the form of a young boy called Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The whole cricketing world is actually speaking about whether he will make his debut very, very soon. Is it going to be in Ireland? I'm right now in England. He's there across the border.
Is he going to be making his debut in that series? Or is he going to be making it in England? But the point is, he has to make it at some point in time because he's literally set the world alight with his style of play. If you do go through the realms of this sport over a period of time, there are not many who have created such an impact at such a tender age.”

Despite such dominance, Karthik said that nobody is sure how Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will perform at international cricket, but he believes the teenager has already shown enough to prove that he is a very special talent.
Karthik pointed out that despite not playing a single match for India yet, fans and experts are amazed by the way the 15-year-old has fearlessly taken on some of the biggest bowlers in the game and delivered outstanding performances at such a young age.
He said that it is very rare to see a teenager create this much excitement before even making his international debut. Karthik signed off by saying, “We will wait and see how good he's been, but I have no doubt that he's going to set the international cricketing world alight as well, no doubt.”
