Dinesh Karthik, Jos Buttler among stars set to play in Abu Dhabi T10 as new signings revealed

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has signed a contract with the Bangla Tigers for the Abu Dhabi T10 League. Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, England white-ball skipper Jos Buttler, and Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis are among the top names that have signed up for the league.

The T10 League is set to be played from November 21 to December 2. It will not clash with other franchise tournaments like the Big Bash League, SA20, and ILT20. The defending champions, the New York Strikers, have a squad comprising Mohammad Amir, Sunil Narine, and Kieron Pollard, among others.

Dinesh Karthik To Play For Bangla Tigers In Abu Dhabi T10 League

Dinesh Karthik recently retired from all formats of Indian cricket. He has been appointed as the batting coach and mentor for Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the IPL 2025. Karthik will play alongside Shakib Al Hasan, who recently retired from T20I cricket, and Ireland's left-arm quick Josh Little.

In other team news, Trent Boult will play alongside Finn Allen at the Northern Warriors. Meanwhile, Lockie Ferguson has signed with Team Abu Dhabi, which has also acquired Jonny Bairstow and Shimron Hetmyer.

Jos Buttler To Play For Deccan Gladiators In Abu Dhabi T10 League

Rashid Khan will team up with Karthik at Bangla Tigers while Jos Buttler will be playing for the Deccan Gladiators alongside Marcus Stoinis. The Gladiators have also retained players like Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, and Maheesh Theekshana. Matheesha Pathirana will represent the New York Strikers.

The New York Strikers have retained their key players, including Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Akeal Hosein, and Mohammad Amir. They also retained UAE players Muhammad Waseem and Muhammad Jawadullah, both of whom have experience with the Sharjah Warriors in the ILT20 tournament.

The upcoming tournament will expand to a ten-team league this season after the inclusion of two new teams, Bolts Ajman and UP Nawabs. Matt Boucher, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub, expressed excitement about the league, adding that it has contributed to cricket growth in Abu Dhabi.

"We're excited to deliver yet another world-class lineup at the 2024 Abu Dhabi T10, which has thrived since we brought the competition to the UAE capital," Matt Boucher, CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub said in a statement.

"Abu Dhabi is now a global centre for sport, and the Abu Dhabi T10 - approaching its sixth edition in the emirate - has played a significant part in making that vision of the government a reality," he added.
