Dinesh Karthik Lauds Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid For Leading Indian Team In A "Fabulous Direction"

Who would have thought that Indian team who faced a humiliating group-stage exit during ICC T20 World Cup 2021 in November will bounce back to the top spot in T20I rankings in the next three months? Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was full of praise for India’s new skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid to lead India to this triumph.

After defeating West Indies 3-0 in a recent T20I series, India has jumped to the top spot in the latest ICC team rankings in T20Is, displacing England from the peak spot. The Rohit Sharma-led India team crushed West Indies in the 1st T20I by 6 wickets, 2nd T20I by 8 runs, and the 3rd T20I by 17 runs to whitewash the visitors.

Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma Taking The Team In A Fabulous Direction: Dinesh Karthik

While speaking in the latest episode of ICC Review, Dinesh Karthik lauded Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma for leading the Indian team in a fabulous direction. The 37-year-old player also said that the duo have plugged small holes in the team that existed earlier.

“What I enjoyed most was Rohit’s captaincy. I thought he led the team beautifully. Tactically very, very sound, and I thoroughly enjoyed the way the team played in the last couple of series against West Indies”, Dinesh Karthik said.

“The new captain and there’s a new coach, I think they are taking the team in a fabulous direction. They’ve plugged small holes, which were probably there previously, and that has been the beautiful part about it. And along the way, in the journey, they’ve managed to become No.1”, the cricketer and commentator Dinesh Karthik further added.

In addition to the T20I series, India also bagged a whitewash against West Indies in the three-match ODI series 3-0. Prior to that, India faced a miserable 3-0 loss against South Africa in an away series. In November 2021, India bagged a 3-0 whitewash against New Zealand. Under new skipper Rohit Sharma, Indian team is undefeated in 6 T20I games so far.

India will now face Sri Lanka in a T20I and Test series at home. The India vs Sri Lanka T20I series will consist of three games. The Test series will witness 2 matches. The IND vs SL T20I series will be played first followed by the IND vs SL Test series.
