Dinesh Karthik Named Tamil Nadu Captain For Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023

Dinesh Karthik will be back in the cricketing action as he will captain Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association made the announcement on Thursday (9th November). 

The Vijay Hazare Trophy will begin on 23rd November. Dinesh Karthik is currently part of the commentary panel for the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. After his stint as a broadcaster ends, he will be seen in action after a while. He was last seen in action during the Indian Premier League (IPL). 

Dinesh Karthik was part of the Indian T20 setup but after the T20 World Cup 2022, he hasn’t featured in the Blues. The keeper-batter also didn’t have a great outing in the IPL this year. The upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023 will be a great opportunity for him to regain his touch and get into the groove ahead of the IPL 2024. 

Dinesh Karthik last played for Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 in November last year. He represented his domestic team ahead of the IPL this year to prepare for the tournament. This time around he would be hoping to change the fortunate and make a big statement. 

Dinesh Karthik has been a veteran for Tamil Nadu in the domestic circuit. He has played 252 matches in his List-A career. The keeper-batter has scored 7358 runs to go with 12 centuries and 39 fifties.

Dinesh Karthik Wants to see India vs Pakistan in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 

Dinesh Karthik, who is doing commentary in the World Cup, wants India vs Pakistan in the semi-final of the tournament. He said that if that happens it’ll be a mouth-watering clash in Kolkata. Speaking on Cricbuzz, he explained: 

“India vs Pakistan definitely. I want that as the semi-final. I am manifesting that to happen, let’s see. India vs Pakistan in Kolkata is going to be mouth-watering contest.” 

India have qualified for the semi-finals of the tournament and will end the group stage at the top of the table. On the other hand, Pakistan have less chance to qualify. They would want New Zealand to lose against Sri Lanka and then beat England by a big margin. The Kiwis however are expected to win against the Island nation. For Men in Green, they need to do something out of the box.
