The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made a significant announcement a few days after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru appointed veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik as their new batting coach and mentor for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Dinesh Karthik retired from all formats of the game after the Indian Premier League 2024. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru failed to advance to the final in this year's T20 tournament. The Bengaluru-based team was knocked out after suffering a loss to the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2024 eliminator clash.

The 39-year-old represented six teams in the IPL, including Mumbai Indians (MI), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and RCB. He amassed 4,842 runs at an average of 26.32 and a strike rate of 135.36, including 22 half-centuries. He is one of the few players to have played in every IPL season since the inaugural edition in 2008.
