Legendary Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram has reacted to the intense buzz over the India vs Pakistan clash in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. However, there is huge controversy in India over the Men in Blue facing Pakistan in the continental tournament.

Wasim Akram was quoted as saying by Telecom Asia Sport: “I am sure these matches will be entertaining, just like all other India vs Pakistan matches. But I hope both the players and the fans will remain disciplined and not cross the line.”
The former Pakistani captain believes the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 offers the perfect stage for thrilling cricket, but there must be respect for the game and for each other.
Akram noted, “Games between India and Pakistan are watched by billions around the world. If Indians are patriotic and want their team to win, the same goes for Pakistani fans.”
Wasim Akram backs India as Asia Cup 2025 favourites
Wasim also backed the Men in Blue to beat the Men in Green in the Asia Cup 2025. But he also stressed that the pressure is the ultimate game-changer in the Indian vs Pakistani clashes, saying whichever side handles the nerves better will win the game, regardless their on paper status.
The legendary fast bowler further added, “India has been in better form recently and will start as favorites, but the team that handles pressure best on the day will win.”
Akram was also disappointed that Babar Azam was not picked in the Pakistan squad for the upcoming tournament. He further said, “Personally, I wanted to see Babar Azam in the team, but since he’s not been selected, it’s up to those in the squad to step up.”

Wasim Akram dreams of India vs Pakistan Test revival

Notably, the Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format, featuring 8 teams and 19 matches, with the final set for September 28 in Dubai. The participating teams are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the UAE, Hong Kong, Afghanistan, and Oman.
