The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated a revamp following the Babar Azam-led team's humiliating exit during the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA. The Pakistan Cricket Board sacked Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from their roles in the team management and selection committee. Riaz was also sacked as the senior team manager.

The Men in Green were eliminated from the group stage in the recent ICC tournament. The Pakistan team suffered a shocking defeat against the USA in their first match. They went on to play against India before registering victories against Canada and Ireland in their last two matches of the World Cup.

Abdul Razzaq And Wahab Riaz Sacked From Selection Committee

The Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed that Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz have been removed from their roles in the national selection committee. The PCB indicated that updates on the new selection committee setup will follow in due time.

"The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed that it has notified Abdul Razzaq and Wahab Riaz that their services will no longer be required in the national selection committee setup," the board said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

"Abdul Razzaq was a member of the men’s and women’s selection committee, while Wahab was a member of the men’s selection committee. The PCB will provide further updates on the selection committee’s composition in due course."

Wahab Riaz took over as chief selector for the Pakistan national team in November 2023 after Pakistan's group-stage exit in the ODI World Cup 2023. Riaz succeeded Inzamam-ul-Haq in the role. He recently lost the chief selector position but remained a member of the seven-member selection committee.

Abdul Razzaq, on the other hand, served on the selection committees for both the men's and women's national teams. He has also held interim and assistant coaching roles with Pakistan in the past. Razzaq will no longer be part of the selection committees for both the men's and women's national cricket teams.

PCB Sacked Wahab Riaz Due To This Reason

As per a report from Cricket Pakistan, team manager Mansoor Rana will be replaced from his position. The PCB will introduce fresh personnel into the team management setup before the upcoming series against Bangladesh. The PCB is set to make an official announcement on the new team management structure soon.

The Pakistan Cricket Board decided to dismiss Wahab Riaz and Mansoor Rana from their roles in team management due to multiple complaints about their conduct, including disciplinary issues. Riaz was also the senior team manager during the tours of Ireland, England, and the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024.

Pakistan will host Bangladesh in a two-match series in August-September 2025, which is part of the World Test Championship (WTC). The first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will be played in Rawalpindi from August 21-25, followed by the second match in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
