Litton Das, Bangladesh National Cricket Team's one of the senior cricketers in their present set-up, finished the Test series without a single run against the Australia National Cricket Team. As soon as Mitchell Starc returned to bowling, Litton Das was dismissed with an unwanted record.

With a duck in the second innings of the Australia vs Bangladesh Test match in Mackay, the middle-order batter attracted a record that he definitely did not want to connect with.

Litton Das' unwanted Test record in Australia

According to stats, Litton Das is the fourth player in history to average 0 from three or more Test innings in Australia. Alongside Das, former India cricketers Commandur Rajagopalachari Rangachari, Ashish Nehra and former Sri Lanka cricketer Chanaka Welegedara are the only three other cricketers whose Test batting averages in Australia were zero.

Mitchell Starc dismissed Litton Das three times in the Australia vs Bangladesh Test series

Bangladesh started the two-match Test series against Australia unexpectedly well, defeating the former WTC champions by 9 wickets in Darwin. Expectations, as well as pressure, were immensely high when they walked out in Mackay to face the hosts for the final match of the Test series.

In Darwin, where the Tiger Brigade scored 426 runs in their first innings with a Tanzid Hasan century and fifty-plus run knocks by Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Litton Das was dismissed for a duck against Mitchell Starc. Das was dismissed again by the Aussie pacer in the first innings of the Mackay Test.

As soon as Das took the strike, Australia captain Pat Cummins introduced Starc into the attack, and it worked soon. In three innings, the Bangladeshi batter lost his wickets thrice against Mitchell Starc.

As it was expected, Australia returned to play the second Test with double force after the humiliating first match. Bangladesh cricket team’s entire batting line-up was completely dismantled against the fiery spells by the Aussies' speedsters.

Australia gave Bangladesh a reality check by defeating them by an innings

The Mackay Test, which started on August 23, ended the next day, on August 23 as Australia won the match by an innings and 51 runs to level the contest. The two-match series concluded with a 1-1 scoreline.

In the first and second innings, Bangladesh recorded only 64 runs and 95 runs, respectively. Australia, on the other hand, got 210 runs in their first innings, which was enough to defeat the touring team. Mitchell Starc was named the Player of the Match for his tremendous bowling skills, claiming 6/12 in the first innings and 4/39 in the second innings.

Australia will next face Zimbabwe for a three-match ODI series before travelling to South Africa for a multi-format series including three Tests.
