India D skipper Shreyas Iyer turned out to be a man with a golden arm for his team in the ongoing game against India A in the Duleep Trophy 2024. The match between the two teams is taking place at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur.
India D didn't have a great day with the bat and ball on Day 2. They got all out for 183 runs in response to India A's 290 runs. But to worsen things more, they also didn't have a great start with the ball in the second innings, as openers Pratham Singh and Mayank Agarwal started pretty well.
Pratham Singh and Mayank Agarwal batted sensationally well as they both put the bowlers under pressure. The duo didn't put a foot wrong in his innings and made sure that they took their team off to a flying start, registering over 100 runs partnership for the first wicket.
Both Pratham Singh and Mayank Agarwal slammed vital half-centuries and with the way they batted, it seemed that they won't get out because they hardly put a foot wrong. But it was India D skipper Shreyas Iyer who came up with a different plan and ensured he brought his team back into the game.
Shreyas brought himself into the attack and made sure that he made an immediate impact and helped his team end Day 2 on high. The right-hander removed his India A counterpart as the umpire called stumps on Day 2 after the fall of the wicket of Mayank Agarwal.
On the first ball of the 29th over, Iyer bowled a delivery with high-arm action and gave a lot of air. Mayank Agarwal went a bit too hard on the straight drive and ended up chipping it off the toe of the bat. The bowler went low to his right and grabbed it inches above the turf.
Iyer gained the control over the catch. He fell sideways and flung the ball into the air as he was delighted with the way he got the opposition captain out. Mayank Agarwal looked dejected with the way he got out as he didn't want to leave the field as he got out on the stroke of stumps.

Mayank Agarwal ended with an innings of 56 runs off 87 balls. He slammed 8 fours in his innings and showed great form with the bat. With his wicket, India A lost their first wicket for 115 runs, and with that, they ended Day 2 on 115/1 and had a lead of 222 runs on the board.
This was Shreyas Iyer's fifth wicket in the FC cricket and a first since 2018-19. The right-hander hasn't bowled regularly in the domestic circuit, but in the last few months, he has been putting in the hard yards with his bowling as well and would want to continue making an impact with the ball.
Shreyas Iyer didn't have a great outing with the bat in the first innings. The right-hander bagged a 7-ball duck as he came out with sunglasses, which caught the attention of many. He would now be hoping to make an impact in the second innings and help his team win the game.
