From being the Bronco Test topper among Indian pacers to being benched for the first match against the UAE in the Asia Cup, Arshdeep Singh has to bear it all as his misfortunes continue since the England tour.

India have kick-started their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with the game against hosts UAE on the 10th of September. The world T20 Champions will play their first game at the Dubai International Stadium, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav won the toss to bowl first.

However, a huge shock arrived alongside Surya's arrival on the field in Dubai: Arshdeep Singh has been dropped from the Indian playing XI for the tournament opener. The premier Indian pacer in T20Is has been benched in the opening game.

Arshdeep Singh's shocking exit from the Asia Cup Playing XI

The left-handed new-ball bowler has been the specialist for India with the new ball. He made his debut in 2021 and has played consistently for India in the shortest format of the game. He is currently also the highest wicket-taker for India in T20 internationals with 99 scalps to his name.

The ace bowler from Punjab Kings is just a wicket away from becoming the first Indian to 100 T20I wickets. He also played a monumental role in sealing the T20 World Cup title for India in 2024 alongside Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya.

However, despite all these stats in favour of Singh, he has been dropped from the playing XI against the UAE.

Arshdeep has reportedly topped the Bronco Test among pacers

The ace fast bowler was part of the Indian squad for the India vs England, Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, but could not play a single game as part of the playing XI. India tried a variety of pacers but left out Arshdeep Singh on the bench.

After the Test series, he, alongside all the Indian players picked for the Asia Cup, featured at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in a fitness test. According to India's new fitness plans, the Bronco Test has been included in the fitness tests conducted to deem a player fit for the game.

Singh has been reported to be the topper in the Bronco Tests among Indian pacers, which makes him the fittest among the lot, despite which he has been benched to feed the Indian head coach's craze for depth in the batting lineup.
