Dwayne Bravo officially appointed as head coach of Knight Riders

Four-time Caribbean Premier League (CPL) champions Trinbago Knight Riders have announced a change in their coaching setup ahead of the 2025 season. Former West Indies all-rounder and franchise legend Dwayne Bravo has been appointed as the new head coach, as team manager Colin Borde confirmed.
The 13th edition of the Caribbean Premier League is set to kick off on August 15, with the tournament concluding on September 22. A total of six teams will play 30 league matches, followed by four playoff fixtures, including an Eliminator, two Qualifiers, and the Final, to determine the 2025 CPL champions.

According to Trinidad and Tobago Newsday, TKR manager Colin Borde confirmed Dwayne Bravo’s appointment as head coach. Borde expressed confidence in Bravo’s transition to the new role, adding that he has the ability to guide the team forward.
“Dwayne’s cricket knowledge not only as a player but as the world knows, a mentor and strategist, is legendary,” Borde told Newsday.
“We’re happy that he’s in his new role and we all look forward to his guidance and leadership together with the captain and leadership group. The circle is complete.”
Dwayne Bravo Replaces Phil Simmons as Head Coach of Trinbago Knight Riders
Dwayne Bravo takes over the head coach role at Trinbago Knight Riders from Phil Simmons, who coached the side during the 2023 and 2024 CPL seasons. Bravo retired from the CPL in September 2024, playing his final match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy against St Lucia Kings.
The 41-year-old played in more than 100 CPL games and lifted the trophy five times, including a memorable title win as captain of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in 2021.
Bravo worked as a mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders during IPL 2025. He also impressed as a bowling consultant with Afghanistan during the 2024 T20 World Cup, helping them reach the semifinals on Caribbean soil before they were knocked out by South Africa.
Darren Bravo and Colin Munro Return to Trinbago Knight Riders
Darren Bravo and Colin Munro have returned to the Trinbago Knight Riders for the 2025 season. Both players have played pivotal roles in the franchise’s past title-winning campaigns.
Team manager Colin Borde expressed his delight at having the duo back on the side. Borde said that Darren Bravo brings not only his batting skills but also his wealth of cricketing experience and intuition.
“The return of Darren Bravo is a welcome sight. Darren has always been a class act and will add not only his skills on the field but his immense and often overlooked cricket experience and intuition,” Borde said.
