England National Cricket Team have named Zak Crawley as the new skipper of the team for the three-match ODI series against Ireland National Cricket Team.

England will host the Irish Team for a three-match ODI series in September. The first match will be played on September 20 at the Headingley in Leeds. The next two matches are set to be played on September 23 and 26 at Trent Bridge in Nottingham and Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol respectively.

With the series being close to the World Cup, ECB has rested most of the ODI regulars, including white-ball captain Jos Buttler, and Crawley has been handed the captaincy responsibility to lead a 13-player squad with Ben Duckett serving as his deputy. This is the first time that Crawley will be leading England.

Zak Crawley has represented the Three Lions in just three ODIs, with all games coming in the Covid-19-affected series against Pakistan in 2021. Ben Duckett, on the other hand, has played just 6 ODIs.

Three Uncapped Players Added To England Squad For ODIs vs Ireland

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) selection committee has decided to pick three uncapped players in the squad. The three players are Warwickshire batter Sam Hain, Surrey wicketkeeper-batter Jamie Smith, and Derbyshire paceman George Scrimshaw.

“The England Men’s selection panel consulted with the first-class counties, and weighed their ambitions in the run-in to the end of the LV= Insurance County Championship season, before finalising the squad,” ECB said in an official media release.

England Squad For ODIs vs Ireland: Zak Crawley (c), Ben Duckett (vc), Rehan Ahmed, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Hain, Will Jacks, Craig Overton, Matthew Potts, Phil Salt, George Scrimshaw, Jamie Smith, Luke Wood.
