ENG vs NZ: Watch - England Claim Three Wickets In 3 Balls In Stuart Broad's Over Against New Zealand On Day 3 Of Lord's Test

The Test match between England and New Zealand has already seen lots of twists and turns as within two days NZ was in their 2nd innings. In the first innings, they were folded for 133 runs. In response, England made just 141. NZ was once again 4 down in their 2nd innings until Daryl Michell and Tom Blundell combined together to put 195 runs for the 6th wicket.

But things changed drastically on the morning of day 3. The game saw a delayed start because of rain, Mitchell got to his hundred but then in the 5th over of the day, England bounced back as they picked up 3 wickets with the new ball.

Daryl Mitchell was caught behind by Ben Foakes.  That was desperately needed for England, and Broad’s celebration said it all. Mitchell shuffled a long distance across the crease in an attempt to play a delivery he should have probably left alone, and he sent a healthy outside edge through to the keeper. The ball straightened just enough to take the edge as it appeared to be pushed with firm hands.

On the next ball, there was a big appeal for lbw, and de Grandhomme was too preoccupied with other things to pay attention to the ball. Blundell was never interested and sent his companion back almost as soon as the ball bounced off his thigh pad and took a couple of steps down the track. At gully, Ollie Pope was particularly watchful, hitting the stumps directly and caught CDG well short of his crease. It was a nip-backer that hit CDG high on the pads and then rolled towards the slip cordon.

On the very next delivery, Broad went off on a celebration run after the team’s hat-trick. Broad’s great nip-backer got the seam to deck in from a larger length, sneaking by Jamieson, who was late in bringing his bat down. He tried to play a push down the ground, but his glued feet couldn’t stop the inward movement. The off stump was knocked out of the ground when the ball hits the stump.

NZ were eventually all out for 285.
