Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman played a match-winning innings against New Zealand in the must-win encounter during the ICC World Cup 2023. As a result, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Zaka Ashraf, announced a one-million-rupee reward for Fakhar Zaman.

The Babar Azam-led team registered a 21-run victory over New Zealand via Duckworth Lewis (DLS) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, November 4. The Men in Green are still in the semi-final race following the victory in their recent match.

Fakhar Zaman Smashes Blistering Century In Bengaluru

The Pakistani team conceded 401 runs to the opposing team after opting to bowl first. In response, they lost the wicket of opener Abdullah Shafique in the second over. Shafique scored four runs before being dismissed by veteran New Zealand pacer Tim Southee.

Fakhar Zaman counter-attacked the New Zealand bowlers and reached his half-century off just 39 balls. He remained unbeaten on 126 runs off 81 deliveries, including eight fours and 11 sixes. He became the only fourth batter to hit 10 or more sixes in a World Cup innings.

The PCB Announces PKR 1 Million Reward For Fakhar Zaman

In a press release, the PCB announced a cash reward of PKR 1 million for Fakhar following his exceptional performance against New Zealand. Zaka Ashraf praised Zaman for his outstanding innings during a telephone conversation.

“Chairman of the PCB Management Committee Zaka Ashraf has lauded Fakhar Zaman’s outstanding innings of 126 not out in Pakistan’s victory over New Zealand in the ICC World Cup match in Bengaluru”

“In a telephone conversation with Fakhar Zaman, Mr Zaka Ashraf praised his exceptional performance. In recognition of his stellar effort, the Chairman of the PCB Management Committee has announced a reward of PKR 1 million for Fakhar.”

Pakistan currently occupies the fifth position on the points table with four wins and four losses in eight matches. They will take on England in their final league stage match at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Saturday, November 11.
