South Africa crushed England by 90 runs in the final T20I match at the Rose Bowl in Southampton to clinch the series 2-1.

Reeza Hendricks (70) and Aiden Markram (51) struck half-centuries while captain David Miller smashed 22 off nine deliveries in the slog overs to power the Proteas to 191/5.

South Africa’s left-arm wrist spinner Tabraiz Shamsi registered a maiden five-wicket haul claiming 5/24 to bowl out the hosts for 101 in 16.4 overs.

Watch- Tristan Stubbs takes a stunner to send Moeen Ali back to the dugout

The individual performances of Hendricks, Markram and Shamsi were overshadowed by the 21-year-old Tristan Stubbs in the game.

Stubbs took a breathtaking catch to dismiss England’s dangerous all-rounder Moeen Ali for three runs in the 10th over.

Markram bowled a flatter delivery to Moeen, who got a leading edge to it, and Stubbs dived to his left to grab a one-handed stunner.

“Stubbs has improved in domestic cricket, but to do it in the way he did at the international level was very good,” Miller heaped praise on the youngster in the post-match presentation ceremony.

It’s a privilege to play my 100th game: David Miller

Miller, who stood in for injured Temba Bavuma as the captain for South Africa in this T20I series, became the first player from the country to play 100 T20I matches in their colours.

It’s a privilege to play my 100th game. Our openers were phenomenal on a tough wicket, they got us to a good start. We showed good intensity and intent,” he said.

This is the second T20I series defeat and third in white-ball formats overall since Jos Buttler took the charge of the side from Eoin Morgan.

England went down in this series despite a comprehensive 41-run win in the opening game in Bristol. The Proteas bounced back to level the series in Cardiff with a 58-run thumping victory.

The ODI series was shared between the two sides after the final ODI in Leeds was washed out by the Rain Gods.
