England named a new opening pair for the ODIs as Ben Duckett will pair up with Jamie Smith against the West Indies.

Will Jacks got the demotion in the playing XI despite being a proper opener, and Jamie is getting an opportunity to open the innings for the first time.

Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson were ruled out of England's ODI squad. Now England are playing with only three pacers in their home conditions.

After the pathetic run in the Champions Trophy 2025, this will be England’s first ODI match.

England’s recent ODI record

England haven’t won a single ODI series since the ODI World Cup 2023. Their run in the World Cup was also shameful as they finished the league stage in seventh position with winning just three out of nine matches.

After the World Cup 2023, England lost the three-match series against the West Indies by 2-1. Then after some time, Australia toured England for a five-match series and defeated England by 3-2 in their home.

West Indies again defeated England in a three-match series by 2-1. After that, the English team were knocked out of the Champions Trophy in the group stage as they lost all their group matches in the Champions Trophy.

Jos Buttler left the captaincy of England’s ODI cricket after being eliminated from the Champions Trophy without winning any game.

England’s head-to-head record against the West Indies in ODIs

England have faced the West Indies 108 times in the ODI format, where they won 54 matches and lost 48 matches in the 50-over format.

But the West Indies have the upper hand in the last two ODI series against England. England toured to West Indies in 2024 for a three-match ODI series, and the Caribbean team defeated them by 2-1.

Before this tour, England also toured the West Indies in 2023 for a three-match ODI series, and the result was the same, as the West Indies won the series by 2-1.

The ODI series in 2023 was special for the Caribbean team as they defeated England in an ODI series after 16 years.
