"England gets a charter while we wait for answers" - David Miller slams Jay Shah for 'Preferential' treatment

Several international cricket teams are stuck in India even after being knocked out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. The conflict between the USA, Israel, and Iran has led to major airspace restrictions in the Middle East, causing flight cancellations for teams like the West Indies and David Miller-starrer South Africa.
The West Indies and South Africa have been waiting for many days to leave. Notably, the Caribbean team was eliminated from the tournament after the Super 8 match against India. The Aiden Markram-led side suffered a heartbreaking defeat against New Zealand in the second semifinal in Kolkata.
West Indies and South Africa Still Wait for Answers in Kolkata - David Miller
According to reports, the ICC organized a chartered flight for England to head home just two days after their semi-final loss. Meanwhile, the West Indies and South Africa are still waiting for clear answers about their travel plans.
David Miller did not hide his anger when he saw that England was leaving India before teams that had been stuck much longer. David Miller commented on an Instagram post to call out the unfairness of the situation.
“Funny that England gets eliminated after West Indies and South Africa and gets on a charter back home tonight. While West Indies and South Africa still wait for answers in Kolkata,” David Miller wrote.

A Little Louder for Those in the Back to Hear Please, Sir - Daren Sammy
West Indies head coach Daren Sammy asked Miller to speak even louder so the ICC would hear the complaint. “@davidmillersa12 a little louder for those in the back to hear please sir.”
Miller further added, “it doesn't take @icc long to organise England charter. West Indies have been waiting for seven days for a charter and South Africa coming on 4 days now. And yet we still wait”.
On Saturday night, Sammy even posted a prayer on social media, saying, "Dear Lord, I put this situation in your hands, and I pray that you bless everyone handling it. Give them all that is required to get us all safely to our destination sooner than later."

Quinton de Kock and Michael Vaughan Question the Power Pull
Quinton de Kock also expressed his frustration on social media, questioning why some teams seem to have more influence than others at the ICC. He pointed out that the West Indies and South Africa have been kept in the dark regarding their departure.
“Funny @icc, we have heard nothing! Meanwhile, England are leaving before us somehow? @westindies and @proteasmencsa are just in the dark! Strange how different teams have more pull than others,” de Kock wrote on his Instagram Stories.
THE PLAYERS WANT TO LEAVE INDIA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. 🤯

Former England captain Michael Vaughan agreed that the situation looked bad for the game's governing body. He posted on X that all teams should be treated equally regardless of their power at the ICC table.
“So England got knocked out on Thurs, get a charter home today .. West Indies go out last Sunday and are still in Kolkata .. SA in the same position .. That’s where the power is all wrong .. All teams in this situation should be treated the same .. just because you are more powerful at the ICC table shouldn’t count,” Vaughan wrote.
