Brydon Carse remains out of the schemes of the England National Cricket Team across the formats. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) declared the squads for the multi-format white-ball series against the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team, without mentioning the fast bowler, Brydon Carse, in any of the squads. He continues to remain out of selection since the controversial incident outside a pub during England's Test series against New Zealand at home.
Former England captain Ben Stokes and Brydon Carse were linked with a controversial Derby night incident only a few weeks ago. Because of the incident, ECB ruled out both Stokes and Carse from the second Test match against New Zealand.
Brydon Carse out of the team
Ben Stokes returned to international cricket before announcing retirement from the national side, but Brydon Carse remains out of the main team. In their previous statement, the ECB informed the public that the pacer would remain under investigation.
Will Macpherson, a Telegraph sports journalist, sheds some light on the latest England white-ball squads through an 'X' post. Will mentioned that the ECB previously informed that Carse would be available for selection. But amid the police investigation, the board did not want to risk their reputation, so they felt it was better to keep the paceman out of the team.
"Given recent events, we feel it is important for him to work through the issues that led to the Derby incident and take time for a proper reset," the ECB said in a statement.
Brydon Carse was ruled out of the Test team as well
Not only from the white-ball squads, but the ECB kept Carse separated from the Test team as well. England announced their team for the third Test match against the Pakistan National Cricket Team, without naming the experienced pacer in the team. Instead, the cricket board has shown its trust in the emerging pacer Sonny Baker has been named for the upcoming Test match at Edgbaston next week.
As per The Guardian report published on September 2, police are still investigating allegations of an assault connected with the controversial incident which took place last month. It is also reported that the Cricket Regulator is investigating the incident. For the same incident, he was dropped even from the second Test match against Pakistan, after being selected in the squad for the first match.
Sri Lanka will tour England for T20Is and ODIs
Sri Lanka cricket team will travel to England in the middle of September. In the series, England will host the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team for a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series. The series will start on September 15 and will run till Sepetember 27.
Ahead of next year's ODI World Cup, the series in England will be crucial for Sri Lanka, as the 2027 World Cup will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. As in England, pacers used to get assistance in South African conditions as well. So, the series against England will be a good rehearsal for the Lankan batters under the seaming conditions.
