England have announced their ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming tour of Australia, with Jacob Bethell returning from injury and teenage wicketkeeper-batter Thomas Rew receiving his maiden senior international call-up. Eddie Jack has also earned his first England men's selection for the T20I series.

Harry Brook will captain both squads as England prepare for a demanding assignment against Australia. While the ODI group includes several first-choice players, the T20I squad features fresh faces and some changes to manage the fast bowlers' workloads ahead of the subsequent tour of South Africa.

England announce ODI, T20I squads for Australia tour, Jacob Bethell returns

England have named 16-player squads for both formats, with Bethell returning after recovering from the knee injury he sustained during the ODI series against India in July. Jofra Archer is also back in the ODI group after missing the ongoing tri-series in Pakistan.

However, Archer, Gus Atkinson, Sonny Baker and Josh Tongue will leave the tour after the three-match ODI series as England manage their workloads before the Test seried in South Africa. Jos Buttler remains unavailable while recovering from hamstring surgery, while Saqib Mahmood misses out due to a knee injury.

The T20I squad has attracted attention with the inclusion of 18-year-old Rew, who captained England's Young Lions to the ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup final in February. He becomes the youngest member of the squad and will have an opportunity to make his senior international debut in Australia. Jack has also received his first call-up.

Phil Salt returns after recovering from a quad injury that kept him out of England's recent 3-0 T20I series victory over Sri Lanka. Aneurin Donald retains his place after making his international debut during that series, while Luke Wood returns to the squad. Rehan Ahmed has again been left out.

England's Australia tour begins with a 50-over warm-up against Western Australia XI on November 7 at the WACA in Perth. The ODI series starts on November 13, followed by matches in Adelaide on November 15 and Hobart on November 18.

The five-match T20I series begins in Melbourne on November 21. The remaining fixtures are scheduled for Gold Coast on November 24, Brisbane on November 27, Sydney on November 29 and Canberra on December 2.

''Our T20 team has been in excellent form under captain Harry Brook'': Marcus North

England men's national selector Marcus North said Bethell and Archer's returns would give the ODI side considerable strength as preparations continue for the next World Cup.

“The returns of Jacob Bethell and Jofra Archer for the ODI series means that we will be at close to full strength as we ramp up preparations for a World Cup in a year’s time.

“The four quick bowlers will then leave after the three-game ODI series as we look to manage them ahead of the Test tour of South Africa."

North also backed England's T20I group, highlighting the team's recent results and the opportunity to test its depth against Australia.

“Our T20 team has been in excellent form under captain Harry Brook and we are looking forward to the opportunity to test ourselves in Australian conditions against a very good team.

“We will have four uncapped players in an exciting IT20 squad including Thomas Rew and Eddie Jack, both of whom toured Australia with the England Lions last year, and who earn their first England call-ups.”
