England Players To Be Asked To Leave IPL 2024 Early After World Cup Debacle: Reports

England players might not be available for the full edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as per the reports in Daily Mail. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) wants its players to be available for the national side to prepare themselves for the T20 World Cup 2024.
ECB’s managing director Rob Key admitted that the team didn’t prepare well for the ICC World Cup 2023 and they don’t want to make the same mistake for the T20 World Cup 2024. The Jos Buttler-led side managed just three wins in the ongoing tournament and were eliminated early.
England are slated to lock horns with Pakistan in a five-match series between 22 and 30 May during which the playoffs of the IPL are expected to take place. ECB wants players to be fully prepared for the T20 World Cup, which will take place from 4th June.
The core strength of the England team is likely to take part in the IPL. The likes of Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Mark Wood, Moeen Ali, and others over the years have played great roles in the league. However, due to national commitments, we might see them cut short in their participation in the league.
England will be entering the ICC T20 World Cup as the defending champions and they would want to do better than what they did in the ODI World Cup. The Jos Buttler-led side didn’t prepare well for the 50-over even as they played just two series (Ireland and New Zealand).
England’s preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024 will begin with a five-match away T20I series against the West Indies. The series between the two teams will kick start on 13th December in the Carribean.
IPL 2024: Auction for IPL to take place in Dubai
The auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place in Dubai. The event is scheduled to take place on 19th December. It’ll be a mini-auction this time around and a few of the English players are also expected to take part in it.
The auction will see an increased purse amount for the sides. All the franchises soon will be naming their list of retained and released players.
