England Playing 11 vs India- 4th Test, India Tour of England 2025:
Openers: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett
England is expected to go with the same batting combination in the fourth Test of the five-match series against India as they look to close out the series at Old Trafford, courtesy of a win in the upcoming game.
The English batters would be somewhat disappointed by the way they batted, especially in the second innings of the last match at Lord's, and would want to get things right at Old Trafford.
The English looked to get on top of the Indian bowling lineup and paid the price of playing needless shots in the second innings.
The opening pair of Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett would like to mix aggression with a bit of caution in the initial few years, as there might be some help for the bowlers with the new ball.
Crawley, especially, would like to get a big score under his belt as he has failed to do so in a major part of the series so far.
Duckett, on the other hand, will hold the key to the batting as he is the man in form at the top of the order for the home side and would like to put on a strong performance.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Liam Dawson
Ollie Pope, the vice captain of the English team, has been able to do much after scoring a century early in the series and will have to take the responsibility to get some runs while batting at number three for the team.
Other than Pope, it will be Root and Brooks, along with Jamie Snith and captain Ben Stokes, who will play an integral part in ensuring that England post an above-par total while batting first.
One of the advantages that the hosts have, and which has come in handy in the series, is the depth in their batting with Chris Woakes batting at number eight. The team's batting has been further boosted by the inclusion of Liam Dawson.
Bowlers: Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse
The hosts will have to make a forced change bowling lineup that took the field against India in the third Test of the ongoing five-match series, with Liam Dawson coming in for Shoaib Bashir, who has been ruled out of the series.
The responsibility will be on Jofra Archer once again. Archer bowled well in his comeback match and would wish to replicate the same in the fourth match.
Archer will be supported by Woakes Carse and captain Ben Stokes, who was the pick of the English bowlers for the way he bowled in the second innings at Lord's.
It would be interesting to see the makeup of fast bowling lineup for the important game at Lord's.
The spin bowling department of England will see a change with Liam Dawson replacing Shoaib Bashir, who got injured while bowling in the last match.
