India will be up against England in the third of the five-match IND vs ENG Test series 2025. This article provides details about England's Playing 11 vs India for the third Test of the IND vs ENG series.
England Playing 11 vs India- 3rd Test, India Tour of England 2025:
Openers: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett
Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett will open the innings for the hosts in the third Test against India as they have done in the first two games of the five-match series.
The pair failed to get the team off to a good start in the last game and were dismissed early in both innings, which led to the middle order being under pressure.
Crawley and Duckett looked tentative against Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, and played a bad shot to get out without making a significant contribution.
The duo will have to get things for the hosts to post an above-par total against an in-form Indian bowling lineup, which will be boosted by the return of Jasprit Bumrah
Crawley has looked out of form in three of the four innings that he has played in the series.
Duckett, on the other hand, played a match-winning knock in the first game and will wish to do the same at Lord's.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes
One of he biggest disappointments for the home team during the second Test was the performance of their middle-order batters.
The likes of Pope, Root, and Stokes were dismissed cheaply in both innings, and it took a humongous partnership between Brook and Smith to bail the team out of trouble.
The story was no different in the second innings, where they could have drawn the game if they had played a bit sensibly. None of the batters except Smith was able to score a half-century in the second innings.
The Ben Stokes-led side will have to rectify their mistakes from the second Test; otherwise, it won't be an easy task to stop India from making it two wins from two games against England at Lord's.
Bowlers: Jofra Archer, Shoaib Bashir, Josh Tongue
The hosts have added fast bowler Gus Atkison to the squad for the third Test, who is returning from an injury.
The squad also features Jofra Archer, who is expected to play in the third match in place of one of the fast bowlers.
Along with Archer, Atkinson is also in contention for a place in the playing XI, given the workload that the three fast bowlers have gone through in the first two Test matches.
It would be interesting to see the makeup of England's fast bowling lineup for the important game at Lord's.
The spin bowling department of England will be handled by Shoaib Bashir, who will once again be the lone specialist spinner in the lineup.
