On Tuesday, May 13, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) officially announced the white-ball squads for the upcoming series against the West Indies National Cricket Team. It will be the first assignment of Harry Brook as full-time captain.

The biggest development coming from the squad announcement has been the snub of the star all-rounder Liam Livingstone from both the ODI and T20I squads.

Liam Livingstone axed again by ECB

The stocks of the all-rounder Liam Livingstone have significantly gone down over the last few months, and even though he bounced back with good performances to reclaim his place, he has once again been axed.

Last year, Liam Livingstone was dropped from the ODI squad, but on the back of exceptional performances in T20Is, he was recalled to the squad for 50-over matches against West Indies, and he even captained the side in the absence of injured Jos Buttler.

He led an inexperienced England side in the Caribbean and slammed his first ODI century (124* off 85 balls) in the second match, helping England level the series. Howver, he has once again been dropped from both squads.

Also, the explosive opener Phil Salt has been dropped from the ODI team, but he is part of the T20I squad. Meanwhile, all-rounder Liam Dawson and Luke Wood have made their comeback to the T20I setup, while Tom Hartley returns to the ODI squad.

Will Jacks has been selected for both the T20I and ODI series against the Men In Maroon on his return to the squad, and along with him, Tom Banton and Matthew Potts are also in both squads.

IPL stars feature in the England squad

As many as five Indian Premier League (IPL) bound players will be featuring in the England squads for the upcoming international series.

Those five players are Gujarat Titans' Jos Buttler, Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Jacob Bethell, Rajasthan Royals' Jofra Archer, Mumbai Indians' Will Jacks, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Phil Salt.

The ODI matches between England and the West Indies will be played on May 29, June 1, and June 3 at Edgbaston, Sophia Gardens, and Kennington Oval, while T20Is will be played on June 6, 8, and 20 at Riverside Ground, County Ground in Bristol, and The Rose Bowl.

The ODIs will clash with the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has been extended till June 3 due to the one-week suspension. This puts doubts over the availability of certain English players for the marquee T20 league, but the ECB is open to supporting BCCI and will give NOCs to players who want to participate in the IPL.

"Keen to support the IPL in getting the schedule up and running, and to facilitate players’ return should they choose to go back. NOCs being reviewed particularly in relation to any clash with the final white-ball squad," the ECB stated.
