England suffer huge blow! Another star bowler gets ruled out of India Test series

England National Cricket Team have suffered a massive blow ahead of the Test series against the India National Cricket Team. Star fast bowler Olly Stone has been ruled out of the entire five-match series due to a right knee injury.

Olly Stone has been ruled out of cricketing action for 14 weeks. He got injured during Nottinghamshire’s pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi last month, where he felt discomfort in his knee. Following that, he underwent scans, which revealed that he needed to undergo surgery.

Olly Stone now will be undergoing rehabilitation and will be working with the medical teams of both the ECB and Nottinghamshire. The fast bowler is expected to be fit by August, which means that he will miss crucial games for England.

ECB released the official statement on Olly Stone, confirming that he has been ruled out of the India series. The statement read:

"England and Nottinghamshire fast bowler Olly Stone has been ruled out of all cricket for 14 weeks following scans and subsequent surgery this week, which confirmed a right knee injury. Stone experienced increasing discomfort during Nottinghamshire’s pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi last month.

"Further scans conducted this week revealed the need for surgery. He will now begin a period of rehabilitation, working closely with the medical teams at both the ECB and Nottinghamshire As a result, Stone will miss the start of the English summer but is targeting a return to full fitness by August 2025."

Olly Stone has played 10 games for England in Tests

Olly Stone has been decent for the team in the limited number of Tests that he has played.

The fast bowler has played 10 games in the longest format of the game and has picked 17 wickets.

He was last seen in action during the series against Sri Lanka in September last year.

Test series between England and India to begin in June

The Test series between England and India is all set to begin on 20th June at the Headingley in Leeds. The second game is slated to take place from 2nd July at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, followed by the third game to be played at Lord's in London from 10th July.

The fourth and fifth matches of the Test series are slated to take place from the 23rd and 31st of July at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester and The Kia Oval, respectively. The five-matchTest series between the teams will also mark the new edition of the ICC World Test Championship.

The last time two teams faced off each other in the Test series was during the five-match series in India in 2024. It saw the Rohit Sharma-led side beating the opposition by the margin of 4-1 and winning all the games with sheer dominance.
