On Monday, August 26, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced the T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming home white-ball series against the Australia National Cricket Team.

The series between England and Australia begins on September 11, and it will be the first white-ball series of the Three Lions following the departure of the head coach Matthew Mott, who stepped down from his role following the team's T20 World Cup 2024 failure.

Talking about the squads, the England and Wales Cricket Board selection committee has taken some major decisions by including fresh faces on the side and removing the veterans, who have not looked at their best in recent times.

As many as five uncapped players have been picked in the T20I squad for the series against Australia National Cricket Team. Those players are Essex batter Jordan Cox, Warwickshire pair Jacob Bethell and Dan Mousley, Leicestershire pacer Josh Hull, and Hampshire pacer John Turner.

Durham pacer Brydon Carse has also been added to both the squads after serving a three-month ban. Notably, he was banned after an anti-corruption investigation by the Cricket Regulator.

Speaking of the major omissions, Jonny Bairstow, Moeen Ali, Tom Hartley, and Chris Jordan, all of whom were part of England's T20 World Cup 2024 squad, have not been picked. Mark Wood will also miss the series after injuring his thigh during the first Test against Sri Lanka in Manchester.

Also, the superstar all-rounders Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran have been picked for the T20I series but the selectors have snubbed them from the ODI squad.

Talking further about the ODI squad, the likes of Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Matthew Potts, and Jamie Smith have been included in keeping an eye on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Also, the uncapped players Josh Hull, Bethell, and Turner have been selected.

The biggest omission from the ODI squad is of veteran batsman Joe Root, but according to reports he is still in the plans for ODIs and has been given the rest for the Australia series.

Meanwhile, the T20I matches between the Jos Buttler-led side and the Aussies will be played on September 11, 13, and 15 at Utilita Bowl, Sophia Gardens, and Emirates Old Trafford. While the ODI matches will be played on September 19, 21, 24, 27, and 29 at Trent Bridge, Headingley, Seat Unique Riverside, Lord's, and Seat Unique Stadium.
