Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen revealed that Virat Kohli’s enthusiasm and passion for Test Cricket will help the format’s growth prodigiously. Virat Kohli has so far been a great supporter of Test cricket and it has been clearly evident in the way he shows his emotion and love towards the format in the field.

The Lord’s win meant a lot to the whole Indian team and Virat Kohli was the first to show his emotions out. He wanted the crowd to enjoy the format and believes that Test cricket is the most challenging task for a cricketer. The Virat Kohli-led team has taken a lead of 1-0 in the five-match Test series with a win at Lord’s.

Kevin Pietersen mentioned that Virat Kohli has been trying to follow his heroes of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid in giving Test Cricket the bigger priority. He added that Kohli’s enthusiasm and intensity for the longer format is fascinating to watch and felt that his hunger to perform in Tests is visible.

“Knowing Virat Kohli the way that I do, I know the huge impetus he puts on following in the footsteps of his heroes. His heroes are Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and other legends of Test match cricket. You can see by his enthusiasm, intensity, and the way he rallies his troops. Test cricket still means everything to him,” Kevin Pietersen wrote

Kevin Pietersen Feels Virat Kohli Desires To Deliver In Tests

Kevin Pietersen reckoned that Kohli aspires to become a legend in the format and hence, his desire to perform consistently in Tests is really high. Pietersen also opined that Kohli’s love towards the format is good for the game as he is already a living legend and has a huge fan base towards him. He added that the win at Gabba and Lord’s will always satisfy him a lot more.

“Kohli knows that to be considered a legend of the game, he needs to deliver in this format as well as in T20. That’s why he puts so much importance on this format and at a time when Test cricket needs all the love it can get, how good is it to see a global superstar so passionate about it.”

“He values his team producing in all conditions, and so to have watched his team win in Australia and then have gone one up in England with a victory at Lord’s will satisfy him hugely,” he added

Meanwhile, England’s batting department looks depleted a lot of holes in it and they should come up with a better performance in the third Test.
