Wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha, standby opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, and bowling coach Bharat Arun are all set to join the Indian squad in Durham even as the touring party is set to lose two other members- Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar- due to their respective injuries.
Wriddhiman Saha, bowling coach Bharat Arun and standby opener Abhimanyu Easwaran had come in close contact with Team India’s throwdown specialist Dayanand Garani, who had tested positive for Covid last week.
While the trio tested negative for the virus, they were forced to spend ten days in isolation in compliance with the UK Government’s ten-day quarantine policy for close contacts.
With the ten-day isolation period on the brink of getting over, the duo of Saha and Easwaran and bowling coach Bharat Arun will join the Indian contingent in Durham in the next few days.
Meanwhile, the first-choice Indian stumper Rishabh Pant has joined the Indian camp in Durham after he tested negative for Covid-19.
Pant did not travel with the Indian contingent initially as he had tested positive for Covid earlier this month.
As per the statement via a BCCI press release, Pant tested positive for the deadly virus when he was at his relatives’ place earlier this month. He was immediately isolated and following a second negative Covid RT-PCR test, the 23-year-old was deemed fit to join the Indian contingent on Wednesday.

With Pant and Wriddhiman Saha not available, India had to field KL Rahul as a specialist wicketkeeper in the ongoing three-day warm-up game against County Select XI at Emirates Riverside in Durham.
