The Mankad issue is still heating up — and a lot of England cricketers have raised their voice against it and subequently termed that it is against the spirit of the game. England Women’s team was crestfallen as they not only lost the 3rd ODI match but were whitewashed by the mighty Indians.

Deepti Sharma who made their run out would be remembered for a long time. Men in Blue would be thrilled as they won a match at Iconic Lord’s which is quite a special achievement irrespective of whether the match is a dead rubber. Throughout the Series, the team looked in the commanding position which was quite good to see

Heather Knight who was not a part of the ODI Series, alleged the Indian Women’s Team by tweeting. “It was a plan, because we had warned her [for leaving the crease early] repeatedly. We did things as per the rules and guidelines. We told the umpires as well, but she was there [outside the crease]. We couldn’t do much,” she said.

India were deserved winners of the match and the series. But no warnings were given. They don’t need to be given, so it hasn’t made the dismissal any less legitimate…”  she concluded.

Disappointing Performance from England

Champion England Women’s Team would be dejected as the hosts were not able to win key moments of the match. Chasing 170 is never impossible in this modern era. The management needs to have some serious talks with the cricketers as such sort of performance can have a huge impact on the team in the near future.

England Women’s Team should not forget that they were completely outplayed by Indians. It may look that India won the match by 16 runs only but it was the Indian Women’s Team who was in control of it. England Women’s Team need to find a way to rotate the strike as consuming dot balls is going to create pressure.
