Heather Knight, the captain of England, announced on Friday that she had undergone surgery and would be absent from the upcoming three-ODI and three-T20I series against India.

After missing the Commonwealth Games in the past, Knight has stated that it is now time to make the most of a “little bit of time away.”

Knight posted a photo of herself in the hospital on Twitter, showing the thumbs-up gesture.

On September 10, the India vs. England series will get underway. The three T20I matches will be played first, and then attention will turn to the ODI matches.

England Could Not Win A Medal At Birmingham 2022 CWG

Earlier, England’s team had fallen short of capturing the bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games having failed to defeat the white ferns at home. India had beaten them in the semifinals.

“Surgery. I’ve had a little clean out of my hip to get me back and running soon. Unfortunately, it rules me out of the India series and the WBBL, but I’m aiming to be back by the end of the year.

“Time to make the most of a bit of time away and bring on the rehab,” tweeted Knight.

The legendary all-rounder Knight, who had hoped to recover quickly, suffered a hip injury during a T20 international match against South Africa and missed the ensuing Commonwealth Games.

During Knight’s absence from the Commonwealth Games, Nat Sciver led England.

In The Hundred, Knight was also slated to captain London Spirit but she hasn’t participated this year. Sciver is anticipated to captain England during the three T20Is and three ODIs against India.

“Cricket at CWG 2022 came to an end on August 7 and Knight was not replaced; she remained with the team the entire time. More recently, Knight was a member of the BBC broadcasters’ panel prior to the surgery.
