Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which earlier postponed England‘s white-ball visit indefinitely, stands shifted drastically. The English team were to tour Bangladesh for three ODIs and as many T20Is during the September-October window; however, an already packed schedule forced them to delay it. As per the recent developments, it would take place in March 2023.

However, the itinerary would still include three ODIs and three T20Is as planned. Nevertheless, the rescheduling of the Bangladesh tour should mean that England only have two T20Is before the World Cup, slated to begin on the 17th of October. The two T20Is would occur in their tour of Pakistan on the 14th and 15th of October, with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confident of it going ahead.

The Englishmen indeed have a busy schedule for the next few months, given a limited-overs tour of Pakistan, the T20 World Cup, and finally the Ashes in Australia. But the BCB planned to keep the series after the T20 World Cup and sought for a window after that. Earlier, a few sources indicated that the leg was postponed after BCB’s request, with the COVID-19 protocols likely playing a part.

With the tour of Bangladesh now postponed to March 2023, England’s players will most probably play in the final phase of IPL 2021. The ECB, which initially refused to let their players participate, believes it would be the ideal preparation for England ahead of the T20 World Cup.

It resumes on the 19th of September and concludes seven days before the first-round fixtures of the T20 World Cup. But they might not stick around for the playoffs and finals, with the Pakistan tour clashing during that period.
