Indian Sapphires make it 2 wins in 2 games as they beat the English Reds by 5 wickets in the sixth match of the Global Power Cricket League (GPCL) T20 at the Yamuna Sports Complex Cricket Ground in Delhi on Tuesday.
After winning the toss, Ian Bell of the English Reds decided to bat first. They could post 138/5 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. Adil Ali was the top scorer for the side with an unbeaten 61* off 53 balls including 3 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Amrit Singh also contributed a valuable 25-ball 33-run knock including 1 four and 2 sixes.
Ankit Chaudhary was the main wicket-taker for the Indian Sapphires, taking 3 wickets while giving up 29 runs in his four overs.
Indian Sapphires Continue Winning Run
In reply, Munaf Patel’s Indian Sapphires had a good start provided by Gaurav Tomar (41 off 22) and Shivam Singh (44 off 44) as they took the team’s score to 65 after 8 overs. Later, Deepanshu Phore provided the finishing touches with the bat, scoring 39 off 27 balls and taking his team over the line in 19.1 overs and 5 wickets in hand.
With 3 wickets, Tommy Rex was the pick of the bowlers for English Reds, giving away just 18 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
