PC: X

The fine knock of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Dewald Brevis comes to an end. He missed his half-century against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by only six runs.

SRH pacer Eshan Malinga rattles the stumps of the Protea batter. Dewald Brevis was dismissed for a well-crafted 44-run knock from 27 balls. The much-needed innings by the middle-order batter was laced with a couple of 4s and four 6s, which took his strike rate to 162.96.

Eshan Malinga bowled out CSK's Dewald Brevis

The knock of Brevis was essential for the Chennai Super Kings as they had lost some of their star batters early in the first innings. Sanju Samson, Urvil Patel, and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad were dismissed without spending significant amounts on the deck. Malinga took the bails off Brevis on the fifth delivery of the 18th over. In the slogs, when the batter was looking to increase the strike rate, the pacer struck.

It was a 141.3 kph delivery by the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer, on off, and skids along the surface. Brevis wanted to play the ball across the line, but was beaten by the pace. Hyderabad secured an important wicket at the crucial point of the match. Chennai Super Kings lost their 5th wicket for 159 runs on the scoreboard.

CSK secures a competitive total in the end

Despite multiple blows during the innings, CSK managed to put on a competitive total of 180 in 20 overs in exchange for 7 wickets. Kartik Sharma also contributed well with his bat, scoring 32 runs from 19 balls.

For SRH, their skipper Pat Cummins snatched 3 wickets in his 4-over spell. Sakib Hussain claimed a brace as well.

I'm very grateful: Dewald Brevis

During the innings break, Dewald Brevis expressed his pleasure as he contributed significantly to the team’s scorecard. He mentioned that the wicket was not amongst the best to bat on.

“I'm very grateful. I think we've got a good score on the board. It wasn't one of the easiest wickets, but I'm extremely grateful, and yeah, it's great to be out there, and I'm excited to see what our bowlers have for us.

"I think for us as a batting unit, I won't reveal too much, but it's just to look after one ball at a time and be happy sometimes if it's a tough ball and you don't get a maximum or something. So just to stay positive and stay in good positions."

"God's in control of my journey, and yeah, like I take it day by day. It wasn't one of the easiest few games at the start, but we're doing great as a team. It is a team sport, so it doesn't matter how you do as an individual always,” Brevis said.
