Michael Vaughan, former England captain, has mentioned the Indian team’s previous record in Test cricket in England and said that the India team has been hammered whenever they have come to England and he expects the trend to continue in the upcoming five-Test series as well.
After playing the WTC final against New Zealand, the Indian team will face off against England in a series of five Tests- 1st Test in Nottingham from August 4, 2nd Test at Lord’s from August 13, 3rd Test at Leeds from August 25, 4th Test at Kennington Oval from September 2 and the 5th Test at Manchester from September 10.
However, in their three previous tours to England, India had lost the four-Test series in 2011 by a margin of 0-4, then lost 1-3 in the five-Test series in 2014, both under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and then lost 1-4 under the captaincy of Virat Kohli on the 2018 tour.
England Will Win. Every Time India Have Come To England, They’ve Been Hammered. That’s The Fact: Michael Vaughan
Talking in a chat with Crictracker.com, the former England captain said that it is a pattern in the Test matches between England and India. Whenever England tour India, they get hammered and whenever India tours England, the vice-versa happens and he expects the trend to continue.
“England will win. It’s in England… I mean you all have to look at the trends over the last few years. Everytime England have gone to India, they’ve been hammered. And everytime India have come to England, they’ve been hammered. That’s the fact. And I think that will carry on. England are a team at home that are very, very difficult to beat with the Duke ball,” Michael Vaughan told CricTracker.
The last time India had won a Test series in England was in 2007 when the visitors registered a 1-0 series win in 3 Tests under the captaincy of Rahul Dravid. Dravid has, however, said that this might be India’s best opportunity to win and is confident that India will win the series 3-2.
