Former Indian pacer Praveen Kumar has claimed that every senior player during his time used to drink but tarnished his image later. Praveen Kumar was one of the emerging pacers for India during MS Dhoni’s era, who rose to the limelight with his memorable performances.
However, Praveen Kumar could only have a short term with the Indian team and vanished after India won the ICC ODI World Cup 2011. Praveen Kumar was also part of the initial World Cup squad but was eliminated due to injury.
After his ouster, his off-field behavior came into the limelight. Reports alleged had Kumar had issues due to his drinking habits and also indulged in violent behaviour. He played his last international match in 2012, just five years after his debut.

While speaking to The Lallantop, Praveen Kumar made sensational claims about seniors of his era. The former right-arm pacer has said that everyone from Indian cricket used to drink but they always asked him not to do it.
“Jab mein team me tha seniors said ‘drink nahi karna, yeh nahi karna, woh nahi karna. Karte sab hai. Lekin wahi baat hai na ki badnaam kar dete hai ‘PK toh drink karta hai”.
“Sab peete hai. (When I was in the team, seniors said, Don’t drink, don’t do this, don’t do that. Everybody does it but they tarnished my image by saying I drink)”, he said.
When he was asked whether players like Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, or Rahul Dravid told him to do so, Praveen Kumar refused to take any name on camera. However, he added that his image was tarnished by seniors.
“Nahi. Naam nahi lena chahta camera pe. Pata sabko hai. (No, I dont wan’t to take name on camera. Everybody knows him). Those who know me personally, they know how I am. A bad image of me has been created,” Kumar further said.
Praveen Kumar Played His Last International Match In 2012
Praveen Kumar played for India from 2007 to 2012. He represented India in 6 Tests, 68 ODIs, and 10 T20Is, picking more than 100 wickets in total. He also played in IPL for teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Lions. He last played in the IPL in 2017.
Meanwhile, Kumar’s words arrived after a recent video of MS Dhoni went viral on social media. In the video, Dhoni can be seen smoking Hukkah. Fans are quite shocked after watching the video, which has created a buzz among his fans.
