The Pakistan National Cricket Team is all set to announce the new head coach ahead of the next edition of the ICC World Test Championship. As per the reports in Geo News, it is learned that former Royal Challengers Bengaluru Director of Cricket Mike Hesson is all set to take the role.
The reports claimed that the PCB is in talks with Mike Hesson, and he seems to be the front-runner to take the role. The governing body is looking for a full-time head coach after interim coach Aaqib Javed decided not to carry on the role across the formats.
Aaqib Javed's contract as the head coach expired after Pakistan's recent tour to New Zealand
Aaqib Javed's contract as the head coach expired after Pakistan's recent tour to New Zealand. He, however, isn't willing to extend his contract, and hence, the Pakistan Cricket Board is keen to bring in a foreign coach to take over the team and bring them back on track.
Pakistan have reportedly approached Australian Simon Katich and New Zealand’s current batting coach, Luke Ronchi, along with Mike Hesson. However, it is learned that the Ex-Royal Challengers Bengaluru boss is the front-runner to take over the post.

Pakistan National Cricket Team changed many coaches over the last few years
In the last few years, the Men in Green have changed many coaches. This is because the relationship between PCB and the coaches hasn't been well, and this has led to many resignations and a few getting sacked. Recently, Garry Kirsten and Jason Gillespie were also removed from the role.
Coming to the Men in Green have had a tough outing across the formats for the last few months. They faced a group-stage exit in the ICC Champions Trophy as they failed to win a single game. After that, the same fate unfolded for them on the New Zealand tour.
They first faced a 4-1 thrashing in the five-match T20I series and then faced a whitewash in the ODI series. However, under the new coach, they would be keen to make a strong comeback and win big titles, especially with the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup 2026 around the corner.
