Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh disagreed with Yograj Singh's take on Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar. Yuvraj stated that the Lucknow Super Giants player remains a bowler who can bat, adding that the left-handed batter requires more work on his batting technique.

Arjun joined the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) squad for the IPL 2026 season. The franchise acquired Tendulkar in a trade with the Mumbai Indians (MI) involving pacer Shardul Thakur. However, the left-arm fast bowler did not get a chance in the playing XI for their IPL 2026 opener against Delhi Capitals (DC).

"That's amazing because I've learned most of the things from his father-mental battles, physical battles, and technical battles. I am passing the same things to Arjun. He is learning from me, which is great," Yuvraj said.

"He is a nice kid; he is very sharp and picks up things very easily. I really wish that I could match his level of hard work. He loves the game. His father is probably the best player that I've seen. It is fascinating to see Arjun's commitment levels," he added.

Arjun Tendulkar Is Still Learning as a Batter - Yuvraj Singh

Yograj Singh had overseen training sessions involving Arjun at his cricket academy. He suggested that critics should not judge Arjun Tendulkar solely based on his bowling.

Yuvraj Singh believes that Arjun Tendulkar still needs improvement in his batting technique. He stated that Arjun Tendulkar is a bowling all-rounder, contrasting with Yograj Singh’s assessment of his batting.

"When Arjun started his cricket, he was a better bowler. He is still learning as a batter. If he continues to work on that, he will definitely improve. I feel that at one stage even he is going to say, 'I'm not sure if I am strong with my bowling or batting.' But I still feel he is a bowler that can bat. I was a batter who could bowl. If I keep working with him, his batting will definitely improve," he stated.

Arjun Tendulkar Faces Tough Competition for Spot in LSG Playing XI

Arjun had an uneventful stint with the Mumbai Indians, where Sachin Tendulkar serves as a team mentor. He has played five Indian Premier League matches so far. The left-arm pacer picked up three wickets at an economy rate of 9.37.

During the 2025-26 domestic season, Arjun scored 58 runs and picked up one wicket in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In his last appearance in the Ranji Trophy, he scored 65 runs across four innings for Goa and picked up four wickets.

Lucknow Super Giants named Mohammad Shami, Mohsin Khan, and Prince Yadav as their starting fast bowlers in their IPL 2026 opener. They also listed Avesh Khan among their impact players. Arjun is unlikely to get a chance in the starting lineup unless there are injury concerns.
