Fans lose patience as Abhishek Sharma falls cheaply to off-spin yet again

Abhishek Sharma's off-form continues. In the semifinals against England, the opener departed for 9 runs off 7 balls. The southpaw was looking in good touch, smashing a couple of fours against the spinner Will Jacks in the second over of the first innings.

Both of the boundaries were on the offside. Jack corrected himself quickly and delivered the very last delivery on the second over on the legs. Sharma hoisted the ball using his wrists to clear the boundary line. The ball got the elevation but not the distance. Phil Salt took a comfortable catch.

The 25-year-old batter hinted at getting back in his form when he smashed a half-century against Zimbabwe in a Super 8 match fixture. It was a must with the game for the team, and he delivered. The half-century was like a much-needed breath of fresh air for the team as well as for the batter.

The England spinner offers very little room to swing the bat. Abhishek made the connection between the bat and ball, but it proved insufficient for getting a boundary. It was an easy catch for Phil Salt. India is down by one wicket for 20 runs only.
